Update

Hello all,

Having enjoyed writing another succesful Live Transfer Deadline Day updates blog, you may have noticed the content i’ve been getting out to you has decreased, I have no real excuses. The start of my final school year has begun and i’ve given myself time to settle down and get stuck in.

But i’m back. I have an interview with Aaron Spear coming up on www.thenufcblog.com and frequent match starting x11 predictions/player profiles etc etc.

I’m also intending to continue writing on here more, with Goalkeeping articles becoming a bigger part of the site.

Please comment, any questions or ideas.

Ge the latest from me on twitter : @JoshHannen

13:19 – And TheGallowgate Transfer Update Blog Begins!

Pavlyuchenko, Keirrison, Sulejmani – the answer?

With 23 days to go until the end of the transfer window, the press are out in full force, speculating deals all over the world. Here are the latest names linked with the No.9 shirt at St.James Park.

Roman Pavlyuchenko

Age: 29

Position: Striker

Club: Tottenham Hotspur

Nationality: Russian

International Caps: 40 , scoring 19 goals

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp’s spending in recent transfer windows suggests that substantial financial backing will be the catalyst in welcoming new faces to White Hart Lane this summer. ‘Arry is already lucky enough to have 5 first team striking options, but if Spurs are going to spend, you’d expect them to sign a “class” striker. The sort that will set them back £20m.

On the other end of the stick stands Russian star Roman Pavlyuchenko, who at 29 clearly isn’t part of plans at the North London club looking into the future. A number of clubs have been linked with Roman throughout the season, including Newcastle.

In 381 club career appearances, he has scored an impressive 180 goals (as of 8th may 2011), and with creative flair and a decent work rate, he could be a snatch for any Premier League club at a price rumoured to be around £10m. I would certainly like to see him in the B & W.

You never know, Mike Ashley is a Spurs fan?

Player Footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IliTsWdDftc

Signing Possibility: 6.75/10

Keirrison

Age: 22

Position: Striker

Club: FC Barcelona

Nationality: Brazil

Newcastle are planning a move for Barcelona’s out-of-favour striker Keirrison as a possible replacement for Andy Carroll. The Magpies hope to bring in the Brazilian for £3m.

– CaughtOffside.com

…. was the headlines fueling the transfer speculation. The young brazilian was snapped up by FC Barcelona in 2009 after he impressed in two Brazilian football tiers in consecutive seasons. Scoring 33 goal in 63 games for Coritiba and then 5 goals in 7 games for Palmeiras. Since then he has been out on loan three times, with spells at Benfica, Fiorentina and Santos.

All you can say about Keirrison is that he isn’t good enough to break into the 1st team, at the best club in the world. Does that make him a flop, or just an extremely good footballer, at the wrong club. The latter in my opinion. I begin to worry at Pardew’s transfer strategy however, I can tell you Keirrison is decent on Football Manager 2011.

Player Footage: Poor quality videos can be found on youtube, he is your typical brazilian wonderkid.

Signing possibility: 6/10

Miralem Sulejmani

Age: 22

Position: Striker

Club: Ajax

Nationality: Serbain

International Caps: Serbia U21 ( 19, 6 Goals) , Serbia (7 Caps)

Alan Pardew’s interest in the Serb became apparent to the media in June, with various sources claiming that he was interested in signing the Ajax forward.

It was reported that Alan Pardew and Head Scout of Newcastle United, Graham Carr, were in attendance to watch Sulejmani strike twice as league holders Ajax came from behind to beat Graafschap Doetinchem 4-1 on Sunday in the opening weekend of the Dutch League.

Ajax paid €16.25 million to Heerenveen, breaking the Dutch transfer-record, in 2008 to sign Sulejmani. But with money problems facing Ajax, if a reasonable bid was lodged, he would become a Newcastle United player.

Highly rated by the Dutch media, he has scored 44 goals in 157 career appearances, and at the age of 22, has many more to come.

And once again, is seen as a hot prospect on Football Manager 2011, oh dear Pardew.

Player Footage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rKupibAaMHk

Signing possibility: 7/10

As fans, at the end of the day, we are going to have to accept the squad roster, we can’t change it, but we can hope Mike Ashley will put his hand in his pocket and purchase a new No.9.

Howay the Lads!
